President & CEO, Tourism Industry Association of Ontario
Beth Potter has led the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO)—the umbrella trade association for Ontario’s tourism industry—as President and CEO since January 2011. A distinguished member of the tourism community, Beth also serves on the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC)’s Board of Directors, and chairs the organization’s Provincial Territorial Tourism Industry Associations Committee. In addition, Beth holds seats on the Sector Advisory Committee for the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Ryerson University’s advisory council for the Tourism and Hospitality Management program, as well as the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Prior to joining TIAO, Beth spent seven years as the Executive Director of Camping In Ontario, an association made up of more than 600 small businesses that actively represents the campground industry in Ontario. She also served on the board for the Accommodation Industry Alliance of Ontario and Campgrounds Camping Canada, which she chaired from 2009 to 2011.
With more than 25 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector, Beth has worked with a boards, committees and volunteers from a wealth of diverse backgrounds, mandates and goals. Born and raised in Ontario, a graduate of Lakehead University (1990), avid golfer and curling fan, Beth currently resides with her family in Toronto.
